About Tin Can Bay

Location
25 54.70’S 153 00.25’E (water tower near centre of town. Conspicuous feature with blue light on top at night) approximately 50km north-east of Gympie in the heart of the Cooloola Coast and approximately 8 nautical miles from Inskip Point.

A wide variety of accommodation is available including camping and caravan parks, hotel (pub rooms and units), motels, cabins, luxury holiday units & apartments, bed & breakfast, and a wide range of units and houses to let.

Activities
Sailing, fishing & boating charters, canoe & dinghy hire, horse & trail riding, golf & bowls, swimming pool, tennis, walking/cycling circuits, model aeroplane club, skateboard bowl, sporting shooters, dragon boating, Sailability.

Anchorage
The principal anchorage for yachties & boaties visiting Tin Can Bay is at Smooger Point. Please note anchoring is NOT permitted within the Snapper Creek Boat Harbour (refer charts). Berths are available at Tin Can Bay Marina.

Attractions
Dolphin feeding (daily from 8.00am at Barnacles, Norman Point), Great Sandy Strait, Coloured Sands & Carlo Sand Blow at Rainbow Beach, Fraser Island, Cooloola National Park, Great Sandy Marine Park.

Bait & Ice
Are available at Barnacles, Liberty TCB and Marina chandlery.

Chandlery
Marina Chandlery (located at TCB Marina). Other marine services include outboard motor & diesel engine repairs and shipwrights. Tin Can Bay Marina has a travel lift and hardstand yard.

Coast Guard
Operates from 6.00am to 6.00pm 7 days per week on VHF channel 16 (calling) and VHF channels 67, 80 and 82 (working) and on the 27 MHz band on 27.88MHz (emergencies) and 27.90MHz (working).

Fuel
Liberty service station - open 7.00am - 7.00pm daily
Marine fuel is available at the fuel wharf at Tin Can Bay Marina and Barnacles dock at Norman Point. After hours call out fees apply at both locations.

Houseboat Hire
Houseboats are available for hire from Luxury Afloat at Norman Point, Tin Can Bay Houseboats at Norman Point, and Rainbow Beach Houseboats at Carlo Point (Rainbow Beach).

Tin Can Bay Star Marina
A secure 170 berth marina, amenities (hot showers, laundry), licensed restaurant, yacht broker, travel lift, boat ramp, hardstand for storage & maintenance, fuel supplies, marine chandlery, shipwright, diesel mechanic.

Medical & Dental
Doctors and dental surgeries (located at Dolphin Shopping Centre), pathologist, chiropractor, Bowen therapist, physiotherapist, massage therapists. An ambulance station is located across the road from the Dolphin Shopping Centre.

Services
Post office, bakery, hardware (at Cooloola Cove), pharmacy, newsagent, hairdressers & beauty therapist, library (with free internet access), real estate offices, taxi and a variety of tradesmen (plumbers, painters, gasfitters, electricians, refrigeration, IT technicians, builders, signwriter, automotive and marine mechanics).

Shopping
A variety of specialty shops is available including gift shops and local artists’ studios. Cooloola Cove Shopping Centre has a discount store, newsagent, takeaway food outlets and coffee shop.

IGA (at Tin Can Bay) and Woolworths (at Cooloola Cove).
